    Our Trip To Vail

We had taken Lillian and Stella to Colorado after Christmas in 2018.  They were 2 and 18mos, respectively.  They had never seen snow and still talk about how they built a snow man with their daddy.  We knew once Ruby was old enough, we wanted to go back and let them try their hand at skiing.  Spoiler, only one of them actually skied. It was an amazing trip; the girls will talk about it all year and we cannot wait to go back. Why We Chose Vail We fly almost exclusively Southwest as a family.  We have a Southwest credit card and are able to get the companion pass between…

Kids’ Everyday Smoothie and Other Breakfast Ideas

Every morning I make myself and Matt this smoothie for breakfast.  I love that it is a great way to start our day, full serving of veggies, greens, fruit, tons of protein and healthy fats.  Once the girls realized this was our everyday, they started asking for smoothies every morning too.  After going thru several variations, we have finally nailed down their favorite recipe. Here’s what we are currently doing: 1 C of ice 1 C of milk of choice 1/2 C of frozen blueberries 1 C of frozen strawberries 1 large banana 1 tbsp of hemp seeds(or a scoop of protein) 1 tbsp of local honey Add all ingredients…

    Durango Trip Recap

Last year my sister-in-law suggested we do an adults only trip to celebrate her husbands’ 40th birthday.  Honestly, I didn’t think it would ever happen.  Between the 3 couples going there are 8 kids to account for, and did I mention we were bringing one set of grandparents of said children on this trip?  But, where there is a will, there is a way.  Shout out to the grandparents that stepped up to make this trip happen. All my brother-in-law wanted for his birthday was to get out of the Texas summer heat. I cannot disagree with that birthday wish.  So, after an extensive search, we settled on Durango, Colorado. …

What I Bought to Prep for Back to School

This year, I am determined to not be scrambling to get everything the week before school.  So, I’ve spent the last few weeks collecting the things I know I will need to start the school year off strong.  I know if I am feeling stressed about school starting the kids will pick up on that and I want us to go in excited and ready for the new year ahead. Here’s what I’ve bought so far: Bookbag This is the first year that any of the girls will need a backpack, up until now their school has provided them with a bag.  But Lillian is starting 1st grade in the…

What We Are Reading, January 2022

I seem to go in and out of the habit of reading, I will read like crazy for a month or two and then will completely stop.  I have noticed recently during the times I am not reading, I really miss the escape.  But, finding just the right book to read can be a challenge.  I cannot tell you how many books I start and do not finish because I just can’t get into them. So, I thought I’d ask for help, last week on stories I asked what everyone was reading, and I got such a great response!  At the request of most of you, I thought I would…

    The Friday Five, Issue 29

Welcome to the Friday 5! Every Friday I will highlight 5 things I am currently loving.  This can be anything from habits that are currently serving me, clothes, apps, people I am currently loving, podcasts, food, mom hacks and everything in between!  What I am currently loving: Cauli Berry Smoothie by Bare Nutrition Health This is my go-to breakfast every day.  Part of the reason I do this every day is to eliminate one decision for the day. It also helps to simplify my grocery shopping each week as I know exactly what I need.  I’ve started doubling the recipe each day, so Matt and I each have one for…

    The Friday Five, Issue 28

Welcome to the Friday 5! Every Friday I will highlight 5 things I am currently loving.  This can be anything from habits that are currently serving me, clothes, apps, people I am currently loving, podcasts, food, mom hacks and everything in between!  As the New Year approaches, I’ve been thinking a lot about routines. Routines that I do religiously and those that I have slacked off of in the busyness of the holidays. The beginning of the year is a great time to concentrate on getting back into the habits that make you feel your best. These are just some of the little things I try do routinely that make…

Welcome to the Friday 5! Every Friday I will highlight 5 things I am currently loving.  This can be anything from habits that are currently serving me, clothes, apps, people I am currently loving, podcasts, food, mom hacks and everything in between!  What I am currently loving: Taylor Jenkins Reid Have y’all read any of Reid’s books?  In the past year, I’ve read four of her books.  They are all so well written and just easy reads for me.  I have really gotten into the habit of reading when I get in bed and I want an easy, entertaining read.  I read at the end of the day as an…

    The Friday Five, Issue 26

Welcome to the Friday 5! Every Friday I will highlight 5 things I am currently loving.  This can be anything from habits that are currently serving me, clothes, apps, people I am currently loving, podcasts, food, mom hacks and everything in between!  This week I am focusing on managing your home, specifically, how I use my calendars to keep on track and organized.  The biggest lie I constantly tell myself is “I don’t have to write that down, I’ll remember.”  With three kids getting more involved and busier by the season, I have a ticker tape going in my head at all times of to-dos. What I am currently loving:…

    How to Train Your Hair

6 Tips for Getting More Time Between Washes One of my greatest accomplishments is being able to wash my hair only once a week.  There, I said it.  It’s life changing.  To not have to wash my hair daily or even multiple times a week really makes getting ready faster than ever.  My husband thinks this is gross and tells me I shouldn’t tell anyone I go that long between washes, but he’s not really my target audience here!  Outside of the benefit of time, it is actually better for the health of your hair to not wash it daily.  Everyday washing can strip your hair of the natural oils…
